LEED ® field tests

Our LEED® field tests service allows you to rely on a single qualified agency for all the tests prescribed by the Commissioning authority. We take care of drawing up the BET plan – Building Envelope Testing Plan, and planning and implementing the LEED® field tests. Our service supports the general contractor in certifying the LEED® target required by the client.

LEED® field test: our method

The LEED® field tests require careful preparation during all phases of the construction site. We can support the general contractor during the LEED® envelope commissioning process, thanks to our experience gained in construction sites throughout the country.

We offer preconstruction and construction phase consultancy, review of submittals, and support during commissioning meetings. We then dedicate ourselves to the drafting of the BET plan – Building Envelope Testing Plan and to the execution of the Building envelope testing LEED®.

LEED® field test: field of application

The LEED® field tests we carry out adapt to the most diverse construction requirements. Our technicians have contributed with LEED® field tests to the most innovative construction sites throughout Italy: office and retail buildings, residential complexes, accommodation facilities, large logistics construction sites, healthcare facilities, and research centers.

LEED® field tests: required tests

The LEED® field tests for the building envelope include airtightness tests of the envelope and windows, watertightness tests of curtain walls and windows, inspections to search for air leaks, thermographic inspections, and thermal transmittance in operation.

For the LEED® field tests, we produce detailed reports, with easy-to-read results and photographic and video evidence.

Our customized Building envelope testing LEED® adapts to the specific needs of each project, performing the most advanced LEED® field tests for the accurate assessment of the building envelope:

  • Air permeability test of the building envelope – UNI EN ISO 9972
Airtightness test through blower-door-test according to UNI EN ISO 9972 and ASTM E1827. The service includes the supervision of the preparation of the test area, the correct assembly and disassembly of the instrumentation, and the processing of the results.
  • Measurement of thermal transmittance on site – UNI EN ISO 9869
Thermal conductivity field test, using measurements with a heat flow meter, according to the UNI EN ISO 9869 standard. The test is performed with the progressive average method, choosing the right climatic conditions.
  • Thermographic survey of the building envelope – UNI EN ISO 13187
Thermographic investigations of the building envelope, according to UNI EN ISO 13187. The objective of the test is to search for thermal and construction anomalies, with a potential risk of surface condensation. We program the execution of the test by choosing the most favorable weather conditions.
  • Building envelope air leakage detection – ASTM E1186
Air leakage detection in the building envelope using infrared thermography, fog tests, and measurements with an anemometer. Tests are performed according to ASTM E1186. We analyze the major criticalities of the building envelope, research the causes and document the results with photos and videos.
  • Water permeability test on curtain walls – UNI EN ISO 13051
Watertightness test of curtain walls according to the UNI EN ISO 13051 standard. The tests are carried out on-site, creating a continuous film of water on the portion of the facade concerned.
  • Water permeability test of windows and doors – UNI EN ISO 1027, UNI EN ISO 12208
Watertightness test on doors and windows according to the UNI EN ISO 1027 and UNI EN ISO 12208 standards. The tests are carried out on-site, creating a continuous film of water on the external face.
  • Air permeability test on curtain walls – UNI EN 12153, UNI EN 12152
Measurement of the airtightness of the windows in place, in compliance with the UNI EN 12153 and UNI EN 12152 standards. The test is performed using progressively increasing pressure pulses on the affected portion of the facade.
  • Air permeability test of windows and doors – UNI EN 1026 and UNI EN 12207
Airtightness of the windows in place, compliant with UNI EN 1026 and UNI EN 12207 standards. The test is performed by the A-Wert test with progressive pressure impulses.
