Flood testing horizontal waterproofing installations: aim of the test
Flood testing horizontal waterproofing installations allows testing the watertightness of waterproofing installations applied on horizontal roofs with a slope of no more than 20 mm/m (2% slope).
The test can be conducted on adhered waterproofing membranes applied to structures such as parking lots and terraces, which are above living spaces or raised structures.
We also perform the test as part of the on-site testing for LEED® certification.
Flood testing horizontal waterproofing installations: how we do it
We perform flood testing horizontal waterproofing installations by flooding the surfaces to be tested, after temporarily sealing the drainage systems.
The area to be tested is covered by a layer of water of up to 5cm, typically for a period of 24-48 hours. Simultaneously, we check for leakage in the area below.
It is also possible to check only a portion of the roof, through the construction of temporary containments, in case the static load of water exceeds safe limits.
